Squarespace: Stand Proud

Since the Stonewall Riots in 1969, the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies have come together for a celebration of pride, love, diversity and acceptance all over the world. This year, in support of Pride and in honor of the 50th anniversary of the riots, Squarespace was excited to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community across all three of our office locations with a project called Stand Proud.

My role was to produce Stand Proud as a physical activation in 3 cities (NYC, PDX, + DUB), host a gallery opening reception, and lead a team to create a digital microsite experience at pride.squarespace.com.

Office Activations

From the onset the team wanted to do something to our NYC headquarters that would be both colorful and a total celebration. So I began looking for artists to partner with to do just that. We landed on working with CONFETTISYSTEM to transform our building facade of in the West Village, with as you might guess, confetti. CONFETTISYSTEM provided the artistic direction and materials, and we brought in the FactoryNYC to fabricate and install the structure.

This piece reimagines the colors of the original Pride flag with the goal of extending the spectrum and showcasing a more diverse and inclusive representation of the LGBTQIA+ experience. We continued this celebration in our Portland and Dublin offices with custom window vinyls by local vendors and confetti logos also designed by CONFETTISYSTEM.

Microsite

We also partnered with renowned photographer and Squarespace customer Ryan Pfluger to capture portraits of 6 queer individuals and customers. These stories & images lived on our microsite.

The site curated our featured stories alongside 60 community portraits captured during an event at our NYC office.

None of this would have been possible without the team of creatives that surround me, who took this from an idea to a reality.
